It is said that
behind every successful man stands a great woman. For the Reade Volunteer Fire Comapny to be successful there stands
a great group of women, our Ladies Auxiliary. Although all these women are also members of the Fire Company, most of
them do not possess the qualifications to be active firefighters. However, we know that they are with us, at least in
thought and prayers, every time we leave on a call and return from same.
Not only do our ladies provide
the firemen with meals and refreshments at the scenes of prolonged activity at fire, MVA or other calls, they give of their
time during fund raising functions such as the weekly and Holiday bingos, the Lenten fish fries, the gun raffles,
Lottery Calender sales, 4th of July celebration, etc. They are found preparing food, arranging prizes, selling tickets.
They keep our hall clean and tidy, taking care of the social hall, kitchen, restrooms, offices and meeting room.
They unite with local churches, organizations,
etc. and organize, prepare meals or serve those meals, in the social hall, to the public during special events such as weddings,
birthdays, anniversaries and funerals.
Most organizations such as this do not
place much empahsis on the ladies. We hold our ladies in high regard and esteem. They make our lives
functioning as firefighters much easier by the time consuming work they perform voluntarily. To all the women of the
Reade Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, we, the fire company say
"THANK YOU SO MUCH"
